Notes From the July 14th Meeting
President Karen Dennis opened the meeting by greeting our speakers, Ramesh Kanapareddy, and members. We recited the Four Way Test.

It's safe to say that the women ruled today's meeting - in more ways than one!
Happy Dollars
Members were happy (not in any particular order) for: Karen Dennis for her mother; Eric Ephraim was happy to be out again and meeting in person; Jon Levey and Sandra Bast were also happy to be in person; Joe Lolli  gave $100 for being a member of the club for 35 years and that we are still here after all we've been through; Mike Mills was happy that he's been a member for 37 years and was glad we are back to seeing each other in person; Len Tenner, who claimed to be a member for the past 12 minutes, was also thankful we can meet in person; Penny Levin-Fields was was thankful to be alive and well; Ghida Neukirch was happy to see our speaker with us today, Ramesh Kanapareddy; Larry Block and Paul Munk were thankful for Dale's leadership during a difficult year; Dale Mugler was happy to introduce and welcome our newest member Beth Alberts; Bill Pigati was happy for the Wednesday meeting days and that he was able to be at someone else's restaurant for a change! Abby Block was excited to announce the 43rd season of the Highland Park Strings kicks off in October; Sylvia Aruffo was also excited to announce a watercolor exhibit at the Evanston Art Center from July 17th through August 22nd. And finally, Jim Berardi was happy to promote the Golf Outing on August 19th - forms can be downloaded from the website.
 
 
 
The Day's Program
Our speakers, Ramesh Kanapareddy brought us up to date on the City's recycling program. The city is part of the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County (SWALCO) program.  The recycling center is located at 1180 Half Day Road and is open year round on Tuesdays and the first Saturday of the month from 7 a.m. - 1 p.m.
 
Accepted items are:
  • Electronics (televisions, computers, printers, cell phones)
  • Foam #6 (polystyrene)
  • clothing and textiles (with self-serve drop off bins)
  • rechargeable batteries 
  • holiday lights
  • fluorescent bulbs
  • shoe recycling boxes
Changes made during the pandemic are being able to stay in your car. All items need to be in the trunk or hatchback area. Foam items need to be clean and placed in a bag. Fluorescent bulbs must be in a box or bag - no broken light bulbs will be accepted.
