VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!

City of Highland Park is looking for volunteer counters for the Bike/Walk Count (Move HP).
Since 2012 of Highland Park’s first Bike and Pedestrian Plan, now called MoveHP, the City has been counting walkers and cyclists at various intersections almost semi-annually. These counts help the City plan for future street and sidewalk improvements. Data from past counts has informed the goals in MoveHP, and has enabled the City to receive grants to improve the non-motorized transportation network and to be designated a Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists.

Planning is underway for the Spring 2022 Bike & Pedestrian count, to be held on May 3, 4 and 7 and we need your help!

There are 5 different time slots and several locations around HP where we'll be counting. This year, we will be using sign up genius to manage the schedule. You may sign up for one or more shifts, but please sign up for only one location per shift. If you'd like to be on call in case of a last minute cancellation, there are spaces to sign up as an alternate for each time slot. The count happens rain or shine. Please share the sign up with others who might be able to help.
There are two locations where we are counting on the west side this year - Clavey and Ridge Road, and Park Ave W and the Skokie Valley Bike Trail. I am definitely hoping some neighbors would be interested in counting at these locations!

A virtual training for new counters will be held on April 21 at 6:30 pm. If you are unable to attend, the training will be recorded and available to view at your convenience.
Prior to the count, we will contact people who have signed up with details and provide everything needed for the count. Please fill in your name, email address and cell phone number so that we can reach you.

And here is the link for sign-ups:

Dinner at Del Rio!

What a wonderful evening at Del Rio, where an excellent dinner is always guaranteed! It was great to be with our Rotary family, including new and familiar faces of the Highwood Chamber of Commerce! But who knew the night could get any better? That's right, Larry Block and Bill Pigati serenading us!  President Karen was also able to deliver Paul Harris Pins to: Michael Babian, Diana Sotelo and Doris Xie.  Also honored but not present were Ghida Neukirch and Manu Khodadad.
