Happy Dollars

You don't have to wait until meeting day to share your happiness! Click on the yellow box below, donate your happy dollars and then email Mary Beth at hphwrotary@gmail.com and tell her what you're happy about!

This week, members were thankful for: Eric Ephraim is happy to have time with the boys home from college; Mike Lubelfeld was happy his daughter made the Dean's List! Mary Beth Bretzlauf was happy that her son and his fiancée will be getting married this summer and very happy to have Tamara Hendershot here. Tamara has only been trying to get to one of our meetings for several  months! Mike Mills (who came as Fred Orkin's guest) regaled us with one of his many jokes; Tamara Hendershot was happy to find her daughter (working on her PhD in Binghamton) came home from break announcing her engagement!

Note: If I didn't list your Happy Dollars from this week, please let me know and I will add it next time (I had to walk away to see about a lunch order). -mb

The Day's Program
Our speaker, Steve Sarowicz began his company Paylocity in 1993 as the only employee. It has since gone public. Worth about $80 million, he likes to joke that he has to live on dividends. At 57 years old, Steve is married and has two grown children.

He is now a busy CEO of two foundations he started; Julian Grace and Wayfair. Wayfair is in the process of purchasing the Renaissance Theater on Second Street. He plans to open on February 10th, and in the future play family friendly and uplifting movies. Another idea is to show documentaries followed by discussions with noted professionals in those fields.

His foundations focus on moving the ball forward on issues instead of applying band aids to the problems. According to the website. Julian Grace Foundation "is an entrepreneurial private foundation that does high-engagement grant making in order to create a just, unified and hopeful world".  Wayfair's goal is to break through the roadblocks to humanity coexisting peacefully, based on his Bahá'í faith.

He was an interesting speaker with a lot of historic knowledge. We look forward to the opening of the theatre!

We missed those of you who couldn't make it - we hope to see you soon!
