This week, members were thankful for: Eric Ephraim was happy for quite a few reasons - it was a beautiful day,; his son was in the Overton newspaper as the "Freshman to Watch" on the football team; and today also his older son's last first day of school - no pictures, though! Karen Dennis couldn't make it, but pledged her lunch money to Happy Dollars to wish her assistant well in his new NFP job. He will be sorely missed! Len Tenner was excited to be leaving for California to attend the Emmy's! He also had a question for Eric about the Little Giants, which no longer exists through the Park District, but are a park of the Deerfield Highland Park combined youth football program. Mary Beth was happy to be leaving on her Alaskan cruise this weekend.

The Day's Program

Today, Amy Amdur and her Vice President, Caitlin Pfleger shared with us the plans of the Highland Park Art Festival this weekend. It is starting it's 39th year. At first they thought there wouldn't be a festival because of the 4th of July, but the Mayor felt the sooner we returned to our normal events, the sooner everyone can begin to heal. They started with 40 artists showing and selling their works and have now grown to 200! This year, visitors are encouraged to go to the restaurants for food. All proceeds from the poster for this year go to the HPCF Victims Fund. Amy also suggested our club could be a sponsor of the youth artists next year.
