Doris Xie, Phil Lazarus. Len Tenner, Eric Ephtrain and Neil Dahlmann were happy to welcome our Guest Speaker, Dr. Monica Schroeder and D112 board members, Melissa Itkin, Jenny Butler, Art Kessler, Bennett Lasko, and Lisa Hirsch along with guests, Steve and Linda Lager, Karla Mugler and Carole Lazarus. Jack Diamond shared sad dollars in remembrance of his nephew Mark Sternberg who died. Melissa Itkin was happy that she had a great weekend with he U of Tennessee freshman. Art Kessler, Bennett Lasko, Lisa Hirsh, Lori Fink and Jenny Butler were happy to be here. Monica Schroeder was honored by the warm welcome and the support of the board. Neil was happy because his grandson ill be running in the Chicago Marathon. Mary Beth was happy that the 25th edition of East On Central weas published and available - and that Neil's photograph was published in collaboration with her poem.

Doris Xie was happy to see and welcome everyone, especially to have Dr, Holland speak today. Satish Tripathi was happy to be here after traveling for many weeks; Mike Babian reminding everyone of the End Polio Walk coming up on Saturday at 10a at Port Clinton; Phil Lazarus was appy to welcome everyone. Carole Lazarus was touched by the warm welcome she received as a guest. Len Tenner was happy see his friend Rick Heineman, Dr, Holland, and Rick Nelson. Rick Heineman was happy for the warm welcome. Rick Nelsom was happy to be here. Rhoda Pierce was happy to be here and reminded everyone to vote! Jack Diamond welcomed all our guests and congratulated Len Tenner for a successful golf outing. Neil Dahlmann reported his grandson suffered a hamstring injury and wasn't able to run in the marathon. Dr. Monica Schroeder was happy for the warm welcome last month, happy to welcome Dr. Holland, along with Rick Heineman and Rhoda Pierce - and the collaboration of community present. Mary Beth was happy (and relieved) that she turned in the poetry anthology mannuscript to the publisher for Poets for Peace, which will raise money for Ukrainian orphanages.

Editor's note: Our past two midday meetings were exciting and that was because we had the privilege to welcome and hear from both of our Superintendents, Dr. Chala Holland and Dr. Monica Schroeder. While you may be accustomed to the dynamic leadership of those who have held these positions in the past, I on the other hand have not. I felt while there are dynamic things happening here in D112 and D113. I want to focus on our speakers.
Dr. Monica Schroeder is a graduate of DePaul University, holding a bachelor's degree in elementary education, She earned a master's degree in educational leadership and administration , a doctorate and a Chief School Business Official dendorsement from Northern Illinois University. She is the first Latina superintendent in D112 and she has been within the District since 2006 as an associate principal, principal, assistant superintendent and deputy superintendent.
Dr. Chala Holland earned her BA in Secondary Education with a focus on History from Northwestern University. She reeived her M.A. in Social and Cultural foundations in Education from DePaul and holds and Ed.D. in Urban Educational Leadership from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She served six year as principal of Lake Forest High School. assistant principal for instruction at Oak Park and River Forest High School. Before coming to D113, Dr. Holland served as Assistant Superintendent Administrative Services for High Schoold st Naperville Cummunity Unit School District 203.
These incredible women are parallel examples of what is possible when a teacher opens their eyes and hearts to education. When the passion is ignited, their enthusiaum and dedication becomes pure magic they sprinkle onto each student. There is never a doubt they have the best education available to every child in order to help them thrive
