Our speaker, Christine Taylor Conda from Ravinia Festival shared information about Ravinia’s Reach, Teach, and Play programs. Ravinia's programs extend their reach throughout the Chicagoland area. The core of the programs are to teach the foundation of music to children and adults, and encourage students to play and experience live music. The Reach program puts guest artists in the classrooms of Chicago and Lake County. Over 1500 pavilion tickets are distributed to students and families from 13 music organizations. One Score Chicago provides 25,000 community members access to lawn passes and online resource guides. About 2200 students attend a performance of the One Score selection at Ravinia. HP school students receive workshops and live performances. Concerts designed for kids reach 16,000 family members. Almost 1500 students are served in 5 summer day camps. The Teach program is a music discovery and professional development program. Some 6000 students in 34 Chicago Public Elementary School benefit from Teaching Artist residencies. Almost 200 classroom teachers attend professional development workshops. Play has a jazz mentor program, Ravinia Lawndale Family Music school and the Sistema Ravinia program, which is an orchestra program with 400 3rd-8th graders. Thank you Carrie Callas for your notes! |
