Notes From the May 24th Meeting

President Eric Ephraim welcomed members and our speaker, Robin Byster. We recited the Pledge of Allegiance and the Four-Way Test.

Thank you to everyone who supported and/or attended our annual gala! The first responders and city employees feel the love and support of our community.

Don't forget!

MORAINE TOWNSHIP - FOOD PANTRY NEEDS DONATIONS

With SNAP benefits severely reduced, and high use of our Food Pantry, food is going out as quickly as it comes in and our shelves  look sparce quickly.

Shopping for your family? Consider picking up an extra item for the Panty.
Here’s a list of foods our clients enjoy that our shelves are low on:
  1. Salad dressings
  2. Canned salmon
  3. Instant/boxed rice
  4. Cooking oil
  5. Sugar
  6. Condiments: olives, pickles

Happy Dollars

You don't have to wait until meeting day to share your happiness! Click on the yellow box below, donate your happy dollars and then email Mary Beth at hphwrotary@gmail.com and tell her what you're happy about!

This week, members were happy for: Mike Lubelfeld was happy for good vibes at the gala. Also, he's excited that remodeling of Oak terrace begins next week!  Dale Mugler was happy that he'll be traveling in two weeks to Toronto for a conference to share his published research on Magnetic Resonance Open. Ben Jagim was happy to have been at the gala and was hoping for a referral to a dentist. Our very own fountain of information, Mike Lubelfeld, was quick with the recommendation. Phil Lazarus gave his "Hats Off" to Mike Babian and Mary Beth and to welcome our speaker. Eric Ephraim was happy to welcome our speaker, Robin Byster and his thanks to Mike and Mary Beth. Most of all, Eric was very happy to have the Ephraim boys back at home for the summer!

The Day's Program
Robin Byster is only the 6th Executive Director of HP Community Early Learning Center in its 70 year existence. Once located in the Carter Center, they are now housed in a modular building in the West Ridge area near Red Oak school. Currently they have four classrooms with three teachers in each. They help children with self help skills beginning at age 2, and in some cases, they can be pre-verbal. They are hoping to get two more classrooms soon as well as make the playground ADA compliant. There are 38 families on the waitlist.

Those of you not able to make it, we missed you!

Join us next week at 6:00 p.m.at La Casa d'Isaac & Moishe as we recognize our 2023 Grant recipients! Check your inbox for the email invitation.
