Fred Orkin gave an update on the Financial Literacy program. The next sessions of the program include activities at Highland Park Bank and Trust, First Bank of Highland Park, HP Police, City Hall and the Hyundai dealership.

Our keynote was Janet Szlyk, Ph.D., who is the President and CEO of The Chicago Lighthouse.    Dr. Szlyk is a highly respected researcher and scientist in the field of low vision.  Dr. Szlyk assumed leadership of The Lighthouse in 2008, becoming the second woman in the organization’s 110-­year history to hold the top position.   The Lighthouse provides employment opportunities for hundreds of people who are blind, visually impaired, disabled and Veterans. The Lighthouse has more than 1,000 employees, and supports 40 programs and services in the areas of rehabilitation, education and employment.
