Happy Dollars
Doris Xie was happy to report RI had a good year and met their fundraising goal! Dale Mugler was happy to spend Friday at Ravinia to help with the children's concerts celebrating "Reach, Teach and Play". He was joined by Ben Jagim, Michael Babian and a couple other local Rotarians. Neil Dahlmann reported he and Mary had an interesting week for their youngest grandchild Ben's graduation from Harvard! However, due to a thunderstorm, Ben's race in Florida was delayed until 2 a.m. so he missed his flight to be able to get back in time for his graduation! The family enjoyed the speakers and ceremonies. Ben did qualify for nationals! Next, Neil and Mary were awakened by a fire alarm at the hotel and had to evacuate. Quite the week!  Martha Gray was happy to see her granddaughter Molly graduate from Miami of Ohio, then they went to Butler to see where their grandson will be attending in the fall - they quickly traded in their Miami hats for Butler hats! Phil Lazarus was happy to welcome our speaker, Melissa Septon; Jack Diamond wished Phil good luck with the procedure he was having the next day. Mary Beth was happy that the book of student poems was FINALLY finished!

The Day's Program
Melissa Septon is no stranger to the Club. She began the the Highland Park chapter of Blessings in a Backpack 11 years ago and is the Program Coordinator. Blessings in a Backpack mobilizes communities, individuals and resources to provide food on the weekends and summers. Over 800 students in D112 are in need. These bags of food are discreetly handed out to the students on Fridays. They rely on donations and coordination with the Moraine Township Food Pantry.

OUR NEXT MEETING IS TUESDAY, JUNE 17th.

If you know of someone we should hear from, please let me know so we can schedule speakers.
