This is what we learned from Melissa during her speech:

In the past 10 years, this is HPHS Interact Club:

  • Over 500 HPHS students “SPEAKING THE LANGUAGE OF SERVICE”
  • Approximately 150 families/children with serious/sometimes terminal medical conditions (Ronald McDonald House)
  • Over 600 Special Olympics Athletes (Special Olympics Floor Hockey and Basketball Tournament)
  • The families of the above 600 Special Olympics Athletes (Special Olympics Floor Hockey and Basketball Tournament)
  • Over 700 Members of our US Military Personnel Overseas  (Military Troop Care Package Drive)
  • Over 1500 kids without access to books  (Bernie’s Books)
  • Over 2000 children without access to food (Feed My Starving Children)
  • 150 children at Lurie Children’s Hospital (Letters of Hope)
  • 50 families at St. James Church  (Dinners with Dignity)

APPROX. 6000 lives that were touched by just our service projects alone!

And that doesn’t even include the almost $120,000 we raised for Special Olympics with our Polar Plunges, the $3000 we raised for MS research, and the $1500 we raised for PADS.  That fundraising impacted thousands more people, as well.

And THAT is the POWER OF YOUTH SERVICE!
