Pearls of the Club
My hope still is to leave the world a bit better than when I got here.

Notes From the May 4th Meeting
President Munk opened the meeting greeting all present members.
Paul reported 54 of 75 clubs applied for and received a District COVID 19 grant to assist their efforts in helping their communities deal with this Pandemic.
RI held a telethon on Facebook last Saturday. It presented inspirational speakers and videos of Rotary responses to the world's needs.
A Speaker Series within the District begins this week and continues through May to June 8th. Wednesday night at 7 p.m. is Jennifer Jones, a former Rotary Director in our zone. She will share her experiences with developing the Covid-19 Facebook telethon and share about the broader Rotary world.  Outgoing RI President Mark Maloney will be speaking on May 21st  at 7:30 a.m. in a virtual format. Check out the District website for more information on the speakers.
The Interact Club is going to be having a Rotary Interact "Virtual" Day of Service on Saturday May 16th. The day will begin with a guest speaker (via ZOOM) who will talk about mental health and the coronavirus.  The speaker will be providing some great guidance about taking care of your mental health during this time.  The members will be able to choose from several service project opportunities they can complete from home (while honoring the stay-at-home order)!
SaLT has begun a service project that Club members may wish to help. "Shop & Drop" gives you the opportunity to donate either money, gift cards or a bag of groceries to be delivered to local families in need. If you'd like more information, please email Mary Beth and she can forward the details to you.
The Scholarship Committee has made their selections and are in communications with the HPHS about graduation plans. The Grant Committee is currently reviewing the applications.
At the time of our meeting, there was 129 cases of Coronavirus in Highland Park. The next day, that total was 176. We continue to ask if there is a member who is in need of anything? If so, please reply to this email.
